Top tips for using Gecko at UCAS events

With more and more universities using Gecko at UCAS events, we thought it was time that we shared our top 10 tips for making the most out of our Superhuman Software.

Keep Your Form Short & Sweet
Unfortunately, you won’t be the only university that a prospective student will speak to at a UCAS fair, therefore it is crucial that you make the right first impression and you allow prospective students to make the most of their time.

One of our favourite client tips for busy events, is to create a simple on the day form requesting name and email and a separate more in-depth form requesting a bit more information to be sent via email.

Save Yourself Some Time
Remember to add hidden attributes onto each of your forms to ensure that the data captured talks directly to your CRM system. This will save you a lot of time in the long run!

Add An Incentive
If you are looking for new ways to attract prospective students to fill in your stand, why not try adding an incentive? This could be anything from ‘Free travel to an Open Day’ to an iPad.

Back-Up
Last year you gave away 50 prospectus’, but had 100 to give. This year, you have 50 prospectus’ and need 100; it is always the same. A good way to cover your own back is to create a separate – slightly longer – form (or workflow) which allows you to capture the details that you need to send an instant pdf, followed by a hard copy to anyone that missed out on the day.

Prep Your Emails
Email automation is a great way for you to show prospective students that you care about them and that you truly appreciated meeting them. Create your emails, time them and hook them up to your form before the event.

Stand Out From The Crowd
Did you know that 90 percent of SMS are opened and read within the first three minutes of delivery? You can create automated SMS just as easily as email in Gecko with our Pro package, why not try something different?

Update Your App
We at Gecko pride ourselves on creating Superhuman Software that is constantly developed, improved and changed to make the software as user friendly as possible. Use this handy link beforehand and ensure peace of mind.

Connect To wifi
We know our Superhuman Software can be used offline, but please remember that you will need a working internet connection to sign into the app. It is good practice to get into the habit of updating and signing in when you know you are on a reliable connection.

Remember Your Charger
We’ve all been there. Make sure you aren’t there again.
And if you are, our apps can now be downloaded on your smartphone, desktop, laptop and i-pads/tablets… Just in case.

Sync
At the end of each event, always double check that your data has been synced. There is nothing worse than the gut wrenching feeling of feeling like you have lost a whole day’s work, don’t let it happen to you!
